Real Estate License

If you are buying or selling a home for someone else and taking commission for it, then you will need to have a Real Estate license. All states require Real Estate agents who practice Real Estate business to be licensed. All realtors or Real Estate agents are licensed as realtors. Most of them are affiliated with large company such as Remax, Reece & Nichols, Crye Like, and Century 21. Real Estate investors do not need to have a Real Estate license. If you are selling your own home, you also do not need to have a Real Estate license.

How to obtain a Real Estate license?

You can work as an assistant in a Real Estate office without a license but there are certain things you cannot do without a license.

The Real Estate agent has to take a continuing exam to continue being licensed over a long period of time. This is called continuing education for Real Estate. The frequency of the continuing exam depends on the Real Estate law of the state the Real Estate agent is licensed in.

Should I get a Real Estate license?

It is hard work to have to study for a Real Estate exam so if you don’t plan to work your Real Estate business, then it may not want to get a Real Estate license. After all, you can invest in Real Estate for yourself without having to have a license. You can make all the money you want minus the hassle of having to comply with Real Estate licensing rules. The realtor business is competitive and many realtors find themselves out of work.
